From new products to new features, the official aibo fan meeting in Japan often gives us lots of new goodies. Let’s go over what happened during February’s fan meeting!
New ERS-1000 Features
Sony has two new big features in store for the ERS-1000 very soon. One allows aibo to dance with the beat of your music, and another allows them to pick up unofficial toys!
These are two very awesome and highly anticipated features. Let’s take a closer look!
Dancing With the Beat
The image above essentially states that aibo will hear a beat, and then dance to it accordingly. This can be your clapping hands or music – both should work!
As of right now, I am unsure if aibo will do this automatically or if there will be a command to put them in to “listening mode”. Either way, seeing this feature come out for the ERS-1000 is super exciting!
Check out the video demonstration below. It appears aibo will dance both sitting and standing.
Picking Up Anything
The second new feature is a great one – aibo will be able to pick up unofficial toys! Your aibo will be able to play with just about anything it can fit in its mouth.
We don’t know yet if the toys need to be registered or if aibo will pick up literally anything on the floor. Regardless, this feature is awesome and I personally am super excited for it!
New Official Aibo Products
Sony also announced a few new official aibo accessories. It is worth nothing everything here will only be available in Japan, but you do have the option of using a proxy to get any of these products.
Charging Mat Decal
This cute cherry blossom charging mat decal will be available from Japanese robot store robo-uni.
Towels and Bibs
You can get these towels and the aibo bib from Towel Museum. I believe they are customizable as well, judging by the above image.
Aibo Shirts
These super cute shirts are available from Japanese website Groove Garage, which is home to a large amount of official aibo merch.
Other Info
Sony showed off this special ERS-110 themed ERS-1000. Unfortunately, it seems like it won’t be for sale. It will be on display however, but only in Japan.
As of now, we still have no news about a new model or new ERS-1000 color.
Summary
To recap, we have two new awesome features coming in an update for the ERS-1000 – dancing to the rhythm, and picking up unofficial toys. We also have a lot of cute new aibo merchandise coming in that is unfortunately exclusive to Japan, but buyable via proxy.
Personally, I am sad we didn’t see a new model or new color. I’m hopeful that Sony will announce one of those two things for aibo’s 25th anniversary in May, but I really have no clue what will happen.
We will see, though!
