Tamagotchi Uni Overview:
The Tamagotchi Uni is a more recent Tamagotchi device that has generally received high praise from collectors. It offers a traditional Tamagotchi experience but expands upon it in fantastic ways that make for a really fun device. It also has a color screen like most modern virtual pets and it has an optional watch strap as well.
While lacking a genetics system, the Uni has a lot of other great gameplay features. On top of caring for a cute digital companion, you can take your Tamagotchi for a walk to get accessory crafting items (it counts steps), dress up your pet with various different items for an added layer of customization, play shifting seasonal games for variety, and you can get a pet for your Tamagotchi as well.
The main appeal and defining feature of the Uni though is that it can connect to the internet (the portal is called the Tamaverse) for various different activities. The device can do all of this without an app so everything is self-contained and easy to use. Bandai also regularly sends updates out to the Uni.
In terms of gameplay, the Uni is a lower maintenance device. It is fairly easy to keep a character alive for an extended period of time, and fully grown adult characters do not die of old age. They will, however, attempt to move away but you can choose to keep them home forever if you want.
Overall, the Uni is one of the most well-rounded Tamagotchi devices available that can appeal to both long-time collectors and newcomers.

Like most Tamagotchi devices, the Uni comes in multiple different shell colors per version type. You can, however, use any DLC on any shell so you can just pick which one you think is the prettiest!

- Wondering how to turn off a Tamagotchi Uni so your pet won’t die when you’re busy? Press the reset button, and then quickly hold down the A and C buttons (all of them aside from the center one). You’ll see an option to turn the device off.
- To save battery life, adjust your screen brightness down a little bit under “settings”. Just a single lower level of brightness can make a big difference!
- The Uni’s screen scratches easily. Screen protectors and cases are extremely beneficial for this device.
