Tamagotchi Pix Overview:
The Tamagotchi Pix is a fairly unique virtual pet in that it has a camera on it that can be used for multiple different features on top of normal Tamagotchi gameplay. It is also the first Tamagotchi device with a color screen that was designed only for the international market, as this device was never released in Japan.
The Pix is a standard Tamagotchi experience with a camera. You can bring your Tamagotchi to the real world for photos, or take photos in-game. The camera is also used for some fun activities – you can cook with it. Unfortunately however, any photos taken with the device can’t be retrieved off of it in any way.
Using the camera, the Pix can also read QR codes. You can use this feature to have playdates with another Tamagotchi from anywhere in the world or to download items.
Along with the camera, the Pix has capacitive touch “buttons” instead of typical buttons that you simply press down. Many of the mini games on the device rely on these new “buttons” to feel unique compared to other Tamagotchi devices. And that certainly works out well!
There are also two versions of the Pix. Standard, and the Tamagotchi Pix Party. The Pix Party has the exclusive ability to, well, hold a party. Parties allow for 4 characters to hang out at once and play special games, take unique photos, or cook (for your guests).
In general, the Pix is an interesting device. It has many really cute features that allow for a lot of fun. The Pix isn’t as popular as other color devices however and it lacks desirable features like wi-fi and bluetooth. That doesn’t mean it is a bad device however – it can just feel a little more barren than other modern color screen devices do in comparison.
