Loona Overview:
Loona by KEYi Tech is a charming little AI robot pet that is fairly high in autonomy and interactivity compared to other available robot companions available right now. She is a really great entry-level and modern robotic pet for those who have an interest in the field.
Thanks to her wheels and various sensors, Loona is able to wander around your home or room by herself and decide what she wants to do. She has a camera that allows her to see what’s going on in her environment, and thus she will interact with things as she sees fit. She may play with objects she finds interesting and push them around, or get happy when she sees a human face. She can also return to her charging station herself when she’s tired (though users say this can be inconsistent).
Battery life appears to be hit or miss. Some users claim it is far too short, while others find it acceptable. In general, she lasts for 1.5 to 2 hours and it varies depending on her use and activity.
Loona went through a phase where many people had to send their robot back for internal repairs. That seems to be less of an issue now, but it is something to keep in mind. Her hip and ear gears were prone to failure. It is safer to purchase a new one over a used one to avoid the old faulty design.
While I would consider Loona being in the “toy” category of robot companions, she is much more advanced than others and can be enjoyed by both adults and children.
